About us

Joint Area Manager Sean Ogden was the first face through the door when Edstart Bury were first established back in 2015. Since then, Sean has helped mould the foundations of the company and worked his way to a managerial position. From a young age, Sean has always been passionate about sport and believes that the role models he met during his school years helped him to where he is today. Sean hopes to take this philosophy into primary schools across Bury in the hope to inspire more young people.

Joint Area Manager Leon Davies was promoted to this role in September 2021, after just 3 years as a member of the Edstart Bury team, having previously worked as a primary and secondary school teacher. He has brought his passion, knowledge, enthusiasm for sport, and the development of children together to inspire the next generation. It’s these attributes that have enabled him to be successful and strive to improve and grow Edstart as an organisation.

Edstart coaches are well organised and show a caring attitude towards the children. They regularly praise the children for their achievements. Our children enjoy PE lessons because the coaches teach them the appropriate game skills and make PE fun.

Mrs Phillipa Woodward
PE Lead, St Hilda’s CE Primary School

Using games from the Wellbeing Through Sport programme as a way in to talk about our feelings has really helped engage the children in their learning, giving children the tools and strategies needed to deal with their emotions and make positive changes where necessary.

Mrs Louise Shield
Deputy Headteacher, St Hilda’s CE Primary School

Edstart offer well planned lessons with clear progression and professionalism in the delivery. Great relationships have formed with staff and children, along with the coaches' support for teachers to incorporate PE across the curriculum.
