You may have seen us shouting about our awards scheme, Kids for Kids, on social media recently – but what is it all about?

The idea behind the awards is to reward children who put great effort into what they do or those who show support to their classmates, whether that’s in sport and their PE lessons, or in the playground. There are three award categories; the Kids’ Choice Award, the Teacher’s Choice Award, and the EdStart Playground Leader Award.

Awards are being rolled out at our school roadshows across Salford, Greater Manchester and Cheshire. This month we had a touching nomination from a pupil in Rochdale: ‘I want to nominate my twin brother […] he loves football and dodgeball but didn’t make it into any of the teams at school and was very disappointed, I want to do something to cheer him up and let him know we think he is really kind and generous.’

Here is another from St Mary’s RC Primary School:

EdStart Kids for Kids awards

The awards process for each school kicks off at our EdStart school assemblies. Once nominations have been made, we will return to the school to award winners a special medal, alongside a pack of EdStart goodies!

That’s not all! At the end of 2017, we will be hosting an exciting inter-school awards ceremony, with the winning children and their top nominator up for the ultimate award – tickets to a local sporting event.

Commenting on the Kids for Kids awards, our MD Chris said ‘It’s so important to us at EdStart to keep children motivated when it comes to health and fitness, and the awards are a great way to do this. They encourage peer support, which in turn really boosts the self-esteem of children who may not always get their time in the limelight.’
