We’re delighted to announce that our 10-year birthday celebrations raised a fantastic £1700 for Rainbow House, which works hard to change the lives of the children, young people and adults it works with. We are really grateful to everyone who dug deep at our Big Birthday bash to join in the raffle, games and auction to support this brilliant cause.
The team at Rainbow House does an invaluable job of enhancing the education, health and physical well-being of people with life affecting conditions – giving them the potential to enjoy the best quality of life possible. Rainbow House receives no statutory funding, and it needs to raise £10,000 per week to develop and fund its services, just a couple of reasons it’s such a deserving cause.
Our birthday bash saw EdStart’s sporting ambassador – champion boxer and Sky pundit Jamie Moore – doing a stellar job as guest speaker. Jamie reinforced one of EdStart’s mantras for the children we teach that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again. Hearing about the highs and lows of Jamie’s boxing career was fascinating – and entertaining!
It was great to get together with many of the people who make EdStart so special. This picture of Chris Irwin, our MD, with Ben Pollard – who was in Chris’ first ever gymnastics class at Broadoak at the age of 6. Ben, who has Down’s Syndrome, continued to participate in our clubs until he left primary school.
Chris said: ‘’I was so pleased Ben could join us at our birthday celebrations – I learned a lot from that young man and he never ceases to put a smile on my face!’’
Here’s to the next ten years of children, sports and education!
